Every year in March (falling on the 8th in 2025), the world celebrates International Women's Day as a chance to recognize and honor the contributions of women in all aspects of life. We also support policies that promote women's rights and empowerment.

This year, Thinkie would like to take this opportunity to focus on an often-overlooked aspect of female empowerment: mental wellness and cognitive capacity. In the hustle of daily life, the ability to stay focused, think clearly, and maintain mental balance is crucial for women pursuing their personal and professional goals. Yet, many women today face challenges like chronic stress and “brain fog” that can hold them back. For example, more than half of working women globally report higher stress than a year ago, and almost half feel burned out.

Empowering women means empowering their minds, and that’s where the brain health tools like Thinkie come into play.

Some of the common cognitive challenges that women face

Women excel in many roles – often simultaneously – but this multitasking superpower can come at a cost. Here are some common cognitive challenges that women frequently must navigate:

This constant task-switching increases mental strain. A study in Psychological Science found that women often experience more cognitive exhaustion from multitasking than men.

In short, the “do it all “mindset can lead to feeling mentally drained or scattered.

  • Burnout and brain fog: The pressure to balance work and life perfectly can result in chronic stress. In fact, a Deloitte global survey reported 53% of women saying their stress is up from a year ago, with nearly half feeling burned out

Prolonged stress can manifest as “brain fog”: forgetfulness, mental fatigue, and difficulty concentrating, which makes it challenging to perform at one’s best. Many women describe hitting an afternoon wall of exhaustion or struggling to remember tasks amid the overload.

  • Career growth pressures: In professional settings, women often feel the need to prove themselves while breaking glass ceilings. This can create mental pressure that, combined with everyday distractions, affects focus and confidence. Staying cognitively sharp is essential for problem-solving, leadership, and combating issues like impostor syndrome. Without strategies to maintain mental clarity, it’s challenging to seize career opportunities or innovate in demanding jobs
  • Work-life balance strain: Achieving work-life balance is a mental juggling act. From meeting deadlines to managing household needs, the transition between roles can be mentally taxing. Many women end up sacrificing personal downtime or sleep to keep up, which further impairs focus and memory. Over time, this imbalance can diminish productivity and well-being, creating a cycle where it feels impossible to “switch off” and recharge

These challenges highlight why mental wellness and cognitive fitness are so important. Just as physical health enables women to embrace opportunities, cognitive health gives women the clarity, focus, and resilience to thrive in all areas of life. The good news is that our brains can be trained at any age and can be strengthened to better manage these pressures.

Scientific research backs up the benefits of combining brain exercises with neurofeedback. A recent systematic review found that cognitive training paired with neurofeedback led to significant improvements in memory (including working memory and long-term memory), outperforming training alone.

Brain training with Thinkie offers a 21st-Century solution to overcoming the these everyday trials of and improving qualilty of life.
